"It motivates me to think out of the box and develop new solutions for the construction industry. One of my tasks is to communicate our client's designs to our robots through bespoke designed digital systems. Therefore, projects at Odico always result in a physical output, which at times takes me away from my computer and allows me to use my hands", says Jens Pedersen, Computational Design Specialist, industrial Ph.D. student and project lead at Odico. As part of his industrial Ph.D., Jens is researching how we interface with robots and how carpenters and the timber construction industry can benefit from intuitive workflows and automation technologies.
At the moment, he has paused his Ph.D. to focus his time on developing parametric workflows for a large formwork project. At Odico, their mission is to transform the global construction industry by using technology and increasing efficiency. "We find creative ways to use existing technology and simplify how to interface with them through our proprietary software platform. At Odico, we find solutions to any problem, and every idea is heard and considered - in some way, we are all a type of Gyro Gearloose character".
